About

I am Shylaja Praveen, the cook, photographer and the recipe writer of Amuthi's Kitchen (named after my daughter Amritha).Cooking as one of my favorite hobbies.I had  a great passion for cooking right from my childhood days. I never missed an opportunity to mess up things in my mom's kitchen when I used to be home alone even for few hours.

Though I am the author of the contents, the source of most of the authentic South Indian recipes belongs to 2 important ladies in my life, my mother and mother in law. My mother in law is a seasoned cook and she is  a repository of traditional recipes that was inherited through generations. At any time she can tell the instructions of any recipes with exact measurements (though they are in terms of azhaku and kuzhi karandi).I used to get them perfect in my first attempt itself. Her instructions are that precise.

My mom has always been my inspiration. She is another veteran in cooking who can make simple recipes more delicious with her own unique touch. She maintains the same taste and flavor every time she makes the same recipe.

I learnt the recipes from other cuisine from my friends , TV shows and fellow bloggers. I would have mentioned the source in all such posts.

Other than cooking, my full time job and family keeps me busy all the day with little time left to pursue my other hobbies painting and crafts. I occasionally post on these topics as well.
