Aval payasam


Ingredients
Aval/Poha/Rice Flakes: 1/4 cup
Milk: 3/4 cup
Powdered Jaggery: 1/4 cup
Cashew: 6
Raisin: 4 (optional)
Cardamom: 2 pods
Ghee: 2 tsp


Procedure:
Step1:
Add 2 tsp of ghee in a pan and fry the cashews and raisin and keep it aside


Step3:
In the same pan fry the rice flakes until it becomes light fluffy. If you use thick variety this will take little long. 


Step4:
Add milk and simmer for around 7 - 8 minutes


Step5:
Now add the powdered jaggery and powdered cardomom and mix well


Step6:
Switch off the flame and add the fried cashew and raisin


Notes:Instead of jaggery sugar can also be added
The jaggery can also be increased by 1 tablespoon if you like it more sweet.

  8. Aval payassam and wheat payasam are my favorite. I never miss these items in any function. You must taste them to get that feel, they are uncontrollably yummy..

  9. Good. If the 'aval' we use is brown, then we can get more vitamin B and fibres.
